It was more of a tribal allegiance than a decision. The fact that, beyond the sports events, there was another competition going on never occurred to me. I never thought about the fact that the teams were not only fighting for victory, but also fighting for fans. Until I fell into a sports marketer position, I was pretty much oblivious to how much money changes hands behind the scenes. Professional sports marketing is a multi billion dollar business, and it is growing every year. Most sports teams, in fact, make more money off of selling sports clothing than off of tickets!

Interesting information on ea sports canada. The amazing thing to me is that the double-teaming didn't end with baseball. It seems that New York City also has two National Football League teams as well. The New York Giants and the New York Jets both represent this fair city to football fans across the country. While I have no favorite or even preference for all these teams and really have no idea how a city can survive with this sort of heated division.
