I don't know about your house, but in my house it's difficult enough to schedule important events in our family lives around one local team for each sport (and we don't even have a baseball team). I can't imagine how women in New York do it. But to all of you women and the men you love, I have to say kudos for supporting your great teams and giving your many visitors such wonderful opportunities to watch our sports when we're away from home too. It's hard to identify one thing about this city that is the greatest but that just may be it.

When I was going there, I expected to not like it at all. I had never enjoyed sports events on TV. They seemed really boring to me. If I wanted to see action, I could watch a martial arts movie or something like that. Watching men run back and forth, throwing or kicking balls, seemed very tame by comparison. Nevertheless, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. There was something about actually being there that made it all worthwhile. Maybe it was being in a stadium filled with thousands of fans who really did care about the outcome of the game. You could really feel the suspense and tension, and it was hard not to get drawn into it.

I am not very brave. I don't like heights, fast speeds or defying gravity. I like my feet to be firmly on the ground. The only vaguely exciting activity I have ever done is skiing, which I loved. Adventure sports are not really for me but I wish I could get over my inhibitions and go for it. I am an armchair sportswoman; content to watch other people take crazy risks.

Of course, if you like adventure sports magazines as much as I do, there is an even better place to get them than borders. Many outdoor stores carry truly spectacular collections of adventure magazines sports. You can find everything from mountain climbing and hiking magazines to downhill biking rags. Some of them even give general overviews of outdoor sports. Not every outdoor store has a sport magazine section, but they should be able to point you in the direction of someone who does.
